Pinoy Idol Winner - Gretchen Espina

Tonight, the winner of the 1st Pinoy Idol was announced. And it's no other than Gretchen Espina, besting Ram Chavez and Jay Ann Bautista.

Does Gretchen Espina deserves to be the winner? In my personal opinion, I thought Jay Ann or Ram has it. But since it is based on text votes, it's anybody's game. Considering the fact that Gretchen is a daughter of Biliran's governor.

Or probably she really has her own followers. But then again, you can't help but think otherwise. Knowing how the system works.

Congrats to Gretchen Espina for winning Pinoy Idol.

Hansen - Dating Miyembro ng Boy Band Take 5

Doug Robinson, Hansen Nichols, Reynald Talosig, Joseph Solomon, and Carlos Concepcion are the members of Take 5—jointly managed by Joji Dingcong (manager ni Cogie Domingo) and Leo Dominguez (manager naman nina Ogie Alcasid at Lovi Poe).

Galing daw silang lahat sa mga pinakamayayamang pamilya ng Pilipinas, that richest of them daw is trying to be the male Paris Hilton, and that one or two of them is gay.

Carlos really belongs to the Concepcion clan that owns Concepcion Industries (Carrier, Kelvinator, among others). Lolo niya si Joe Concepcion, the patriarch of the clan at may blessing siya to enter showbiz. The Dela Salle High School graduate is now a student of the College of Asia and the Pacific taking up Entrepreneurial Management.

Carlos also joined last year's Mossimo Bikini Contest.

Hansen, who has a twin brother named Jansen, is from the University of San Francisco taking up Economics. Rey is a student at UP Diliman taking up Broadcasting.

All five have sworn—individually—that they are heterosexuals.

Teacher Monet introduces the counterpoint challenge

August 11, 2008 2:53 PM

Early this morning, the scholars welcomed their Voice Coach who was absent for a week. To make up for lost time, Teacher Monet bonded with the Acadreamians and shortly after briefed them on their counterpoint challenge.

For the upcoming Gala night, the scholars would sing in duets. The Voice Mentor explained that the counterpoint theme could be likened to the medley of the Headmaster. The difference however is that the pair would have to sing different pieces simultaneously. The biggest challenge then is their ability to focus on their respective songs despite the different lyrics and tune of their partner. Though working as a pair, they would be graded separately.

Teacher Kitchy reminded them of the importance of tone memory and musical intelligence. Should they get a hang of these, the challenge would be a clinch.

Liezel and Miguel were assigned to work together. The former would be singing “Sometimes Love Goes Wrong” and the latter, “Stay Awake”. As the two rehearsed their piece, glitches were already evident and the song had to be arranged further.

Bugoy and Laarni seemed to outdo the other and were continuously belting the lyrics. The mentors advised them to work as a team and connect with the other. Also, they had to listen closely to their partner to know the appropriate adlibs.

Sen and Bunny would be a tandem, while IƱaki and Cris are one team. Honorary Scholar Poy on the other hand would be singing a duet with Cebuano Heartthrob Van. How else would the scholars prepare for their challenging theme? And who among the dreamers would prove to have the utmost focus and sheer musicality? Stay updated to the scholars’ progress and catch Uberture with Billy Crawford!
